Ignition, the framework from Playniax

Monkey Programming Forums/User Modules/Ignition, the framework from Playniax

Playniax(Posted 2012) [#1]
The Ignition framework for monkey V1.0 is now available!

For more information, check out our brand new website at http://www.playniax.com

You can download a sample of the docs and bananas:

http://www.playniax.com/download/sample.zip

You can NOT compile the bananas without getting errors because you are missing the framework and data files but it is to give you an impression of the framework.

Just bought this (Been waiting a while for it to be released), nice work

PaulHMason(Posted 2012) [#3]
Really impressive - it would be nice to have a dedicated forum for it too...

CodeGit(Posted 2012) [#4]
I have been using this for about a week now and its good. WELL DONE!!

Armoured(Posted 2012) [#5]
Playniax have a great after-sales service!
This is very important feature if you are beginner, like me, with the Monkey Pro language. :)

Rushino(Posted 2012) [#6]
I definitivly starting to think buying it for many reasons. I am just waiting to be more advanced in my game design concepts.

Tri|Ga|De(Posted 2012) [#7]
I want to use this engine for my next game.
I'm having a little problem with getting started. Is there some tutorials on this engine?
I mean like the "Hello World" example, but a little more advanced.

Playniax(Posted 2012) [#8]
Hi,

Ignition V1.4 is now available.

This is a small update. We are working on a lot of stuff. Priority for us is more and better GUI components.

Skinned buttons can now be resized (experimental) and keep the nice rounded edges. It uses a 9 part grid to achieve this. A gui grid editor is provided to create the data.

Demo: http://playniax.com/share/demos/rzblebutton/html5/MonkeyGame.html

And:

Modules:

* gfx.monkey *

- Added simple iProgressBarH () function.
- Added simple iProgressBarV () function.
- Added iDrawSubImageRect () function.

* filters.monkey * (New 'image processing' class!)

- ToBlackAndWhite () converts an image to black and white image.
- CreateMask () creates a mask of an image.

* engine.monkey *

- Resizable buttons and gui grid tool.
- Added swipe method for layer objects.

Bug fixes:

- Collision editor (window not opening).

Playniax(Posted 2013) [#9]
Hi,

Another small update. Ignition V1.5 is now available!

* engine.monkey *

- Added cursorAlpha, cursorBlend, cursorRed, cursorGreen, cursorBlue to iGuiInput Class for setting the cursor color.
- Fixed the OnUpdate still running bug when layers are disabled.
- iLayerLine can now use an image for rendering. Creates smooth lines and can be used to create lasers for example.

* gfx.monkey *

- iDrawLine can now draw a line using an image.

* font.monkey *

- Font loader can now load 2 font formats. The 'old' one loads separate characters, the 'new' one can have all characters in 1 bitmap.
- Improved TTF font converter.

Rushino(Posted 2013) [#10]
I finally bought this framework. Was looking for specials effects and your framework looked very interesting from the start so i will use this framework to make my networking project along with Diddy as secondary buddy. :)

Playniax(Posted 2013) [#11]
I have put a small update v1.v5b at http://monkey.playniax.com

It fixes some button problems that slipped in earlier.

I have also split the engine tutorial in 2 parts. Beginner and advanced.

vmakar85(Posted 2013) [#12]
many thx!!!

rIKmAN(Posted 2013) [#13]
Nice engine, but while testing the demos I noticed in the "Pixel Perfect Collision" demo found
here that I can get 3-4 pixels into the white square before a collision is caught.

Here is a quick screengrab of what I mean:

Not sure if it is a bug, known about or whether I'm misunderstanding "pixel perfect collisions"?

vmakar85(Posted 2013) [#14]
PPC work fine for me , i cut black area from pictures ( ship.png ), for edit new colision data use [collision editor]

Playniax(Posted 2013) [#15]
@rIKmAN: The demo default is 4 pixels but with the editor you can change it to 1 if you want ;)

rIKmAN(Posted 2013) [#16]
Ahhhh sneaky sneaky :)

I thought it was a bit strange, so thanks for clearing that up Playniax.

rIKmAN(Posted 2013) [#17]
Hey sorry to seem like a moaning git, but I found another glitch in one of the demos on your website.

He is actually stuck there and cannot move anywhere due to being inside the rock tiles, and the tile being collided with seems to be wrong too?

It happened when trying to jump back up onto the bridge from left to right.

Also another small thing - on the website (Monkey version) if you scroll down to the bottom "What do I get with Ignition" section, you have not changed the heading text for the bottom 2 sections so the headings don't make sense.

Playniax(Posted 2013) [#18]
Hi, I am going to punish my webmaster :) He had to change something last time and now this is messed up.

Thanks for pointing it out!

Rushino(Posted 2013) [#19]
There some problem with Ignition and v67d.

See :

rIKmAN(Posted 2013) [#20]
How about the getting stuck inside the tiles, is that a bug in the Framework? or the demo? Fixed/Fixable?

I'm suprised nobody has noticed these bugs before as you are up to v1.5 of the Framework, and all I have done so far is run the examples to find these.

Rushino(Posted 2013) [#21]
@rIKmAN Its probably because none are using the tile system right now or tested it in v1.5 but as i know Playniax he will fix it if there any trouble.

This is probably just a bug in the demo which could be fixable.

Playniax(Posted 2013) [#22]
Hi,

It's a bug in the demo, not Ignition or the tile engine itself. I have put it on my todo list for fixing.

@Rushinoo and others: Problem solved and you can download v1.05c

Bye

Playniax(Posted 2013) [#23]

BozRetro(Posted 2013) [#24]
Great stuff Playniax! I just got it yesterday and reading through the docs first. There's some really good ideas coming up though. Keep up the great work :)

Playniax(Posted 2013) [#27]

Long story, actually I made a mistake on the forum with the first release so I will continue after I reach v1.9 and will then be v1.10, v1.11, v1.12 no biggie ;)

n0th1ng(Posted 2014) [#29]
Please make a full support of tmx format(tiled map editor). Built-in editor is uncomfortable... Thx.

Playniax(Posted 2014) [#30]
Did you download the tiled demo?

You can find this at http://www.monkey.playniax.com

The tmx format should work with orthogonal based maps without compression.

n0th1ng(Posted 2014) [#31]
Yes, I've tried. It would be nice to support isometric maps. And fix this bug plz:

rIKmAN(Posted 2014) [#32]
Hey Playniax,

I had a play with Tiled the other night (and the Ignition converter/importer) but I noticed it has a problem.

If you load in more than a single tileset into a map, then it fails to load.
Using your example code shows this error if you add > 1 tileset to the map.

Are there any plans to update the Tiled support?
I'm not talking every feature but things like multiple tilesets, support of all layers, object layers etc would be really nice as tool to use with Ignition, as the Ignition editor is too basic to be useful really.

Playniax(Posted 2014) [#33]
I will have a look at that bug.

It seems I have ''underestimated" the demand on isometric tile systems and the support for tiled.

I will look into this but I can't make any promisses at this point.
