It's great... It generates landscapes based on a design map that you create (these can be randomly generated as well, and then modified). I'm getting some good results from it.
Thank you.
You are now among the 500 people that I claim to worship.
Is this a rather new program? I've never heard of it, and I've asked for a program exactly like this one thousands of times :)
I quite like the idea of random landscapes for games. The best looking 3d structures are ones that have all sorts of supports underneath them to account for the terrain they are on.
I'm not sure if I understand landscape texture terminology well enough... but am I right in thinking that version 2.3b is going to be able to export multiple texture layers with alpha maps? If this is so, it will be even more useful for games, because I could then use a repeating grass texture :)
Yeah I know, I had to try dozens of terrain editors/generators before stumbling across this one. I don't know how old or new it is, but it took me some time to find.
I'm still evaluating it myself, but it looks very promising.

I'm not sure... but I think more information is here : http://users.tpg.com.au/blakest2/l3dt/tute/tute_ops.htm#gen_TX_alphas
I was looking at this a couple days ago after seening TrueVision3d Video of someone using to create landscapes for a flying Game.
Needless to say it looked very nice.
I havent gotten around to tryin it out yet, But when I do Ill post back here :)
Its pretty easy to use and generates some detailed heightmaps and Textures pretty fast.
You'll probably want to use it with b3d terrains, becuase I made a 1024x1024 Hmap and exported a .X and it was over 2million tris..98+ megs..lol

Wow! I'm glad I'm not writing a terrain maker.
I'd be thinking of jumping off a bridge right now.
Seems to work rather well after playing around with it.
Using it with b3d terrains.
you can export the heightmap, texturemap, normalmap and lightmaps.
I pre blend the Texture and the Lightmap to save a texture layer,(since they are the same size)
Normal map is not very usefull, since I dont think you can set the entity color/ vertex color of a blitz terrain.
I guess you could use the Normal map it exports as a Color map and then add a dot3 detail map(kind of a lighting effect should be produced)
Wow... That was a pleasant surprise.
We have been using the wrong URL for this web site. There should be a redirect at the old one, but there isn't.
Impatient for version 2.3b, I checked the user group for some news. I was surprised to find that the web site address was changed, and 2.3b is already out!
Glad I switched to L3DT, now I guess that TerraGen's officially going bye-bye, no sense in designing terrains with something like that, unless you were making Halo 3 or something.
L3DT looks interesting.
what do you mean by [quote} TerraGen's officially going bye-bye[/quote]?
