This application translates ANIM8OR (AN8) format into BLITZ3D (B3D) format.
3D model , texture and animation are taken into acount during the translation.

It is a beta : all the tokens of ANIM8OR are not taken into account at this moment.
For more information read the documentation avalaible with the help function in the tool.

The application , demo and source code are avalaible at this url :

Yes Thank you very much! Can't wait to try it.

A new version is avalaible :

I have improved the performances of the BLITZ3D loadanimmesh function when B3D files are loaded : 40% !

This is due to the new organisation of the B3D file :
- one mesh in the root node
- use of the bones and weights for the animation ( the weights and bone influences of ANIM80R are not currently supported : end of may , may be)

For more information have a look on the performance tests done and avalaible on my web site.

The exe, source and demo are available on my web site

it is one of the most usefull to me. Animator was a really good programm but AN8TOB3D makes it better for blitz users

A new verion is available !

new features to optimise B3D animation and split a big animation in several small animation.

Great Job Philippe !

Moraldi(Posted 2005) [#13]
Thanks a lot for this great tool!
What about a native windows user interface....

Pedro(Posted 2005) [#14]
I don't know how to do !

the code is open source ...

Erroneouss(Posted 2005) [#15]
Awesome tool!

Howitzer(Posted 2005) [#16]
Thank you so much! I am an avid Anim8or user, and I only recently purchased Blitz3d. I am very greatful for this contribution, and I intend to use it in all my Blitz3d projects.

Once again, thanks :)

Good work on the translator.

new features to optimise B3D animation and split a big animation in several small animation.

What do you mean exactly by optimise ? - do you mean optimising loading time or optimising performance ?
- how does splitting the animation into several seperate animations work - do you create several seperate .b3d files ?

Howitzer(Posted 2005) [#18]
Smiff it details this very well in the manual pdf. It's actually a good idea, and it helps with the performance.

Also I noticed it lacks support for morphs. And translating a mesh that has them will only result in the crashing of the program... but thats ok, as the program is, it is powerful enough for me.

Moraldi(Posted 2005) [#19]
i think that if philippe.c will finally manage the support for mophs (in the next version i hope!) this tool its gona be a complete solution especially with another really powerfull freeware modeler: Wings3D

Howitzer(Posted 2005) [#20]
Well, I played around with it and realized I could make levels using this work flow::

Make the map in Anim8or (be sure to add textures)
Load map into Slimshady and light it

Tada! Instant light mapped level... If you want animated doors, just make few door models with animations and convert it to b3d. Then add the doors where they are needed in the Blitz3d.

This seems to be a better solution than using Maplet or even Cartography Shop.

At least- to me anyway.

Go to to get your copy of Anim8or today! Then, go to and join our community.

EDIT: Well, as it turns out I would get better results importing 3ds into Slimshady instead of B3D... but at least creating characters for Blitz3d in Anim8or is a lot easier now. :)

thanks for the comments.

Smiff , have a look on the pdf. If the documentation is not clear tell me where , I will update it.

Howitzer, Moraldi, if you have issue don't hesitate to send to me the AN8 model , I garantee to you that I will never use it or distribute it. I just use it to test and improve the translator. For morphing i need several AN8 model.

I am ready to improve the tools as you want( with some restrictions may be ;) ). For instance the optimisation and the split of B3D animation is requested by an user and I do it in 2 weeks.

If you want to contact me by MSN(phc.c@...) or email(phc.c@...) or in this post do it.
